Question and Answer Area
Question:
HI, I am just wondering about a few things in the vintage watercross.
1 ) Track type? can it be a new style all rubber with taller
paddle?
2) Track drive sprockets? can they be switched out to accept newer
tracks?
3) Rear suspension? can a newer longer travel suspesion be used.
Watercross Response:
1) You can swap out the track, but don’t go wild on the paddles.
The thought is to allow
racers to use something other than a
“flat” stock track.
2) You can swap out the sprockets to accomplish the track to what
is explained above.
3) Stock suspension only.
This being the first year for the Vintage World Championship…we want to
keep things fairly stock. I did ask about engines also, you can do
whatever you want to the engine as long as you stay within the bounds of
your class. For example; you could run a “souped up”1980 550cc fan
cooled engine in a 1970 chassis as long as they are they same make.
If we have a good response with this additional part of the event…we
will continue to put it on & grow it. I would like to see us get the
Vintage World Championship segment of the event to the point where we
would add an unlimited type class & pay out decent prize money, but we
need to start somewhere. I will be making sure that there is a “pit”
meeting to discuss issues & what vintage racers want to see in the
future.
Also, I hope to have the “Champion” in each class make a demo run during
the Sunday races. Our committee feels that the crowd will enjoy this &
help build interest in vintage racing.
